The Audio problems were fixed with a recent update. The windows Aero returned after a screen saver update.

So all-in-all windows 7 is working well.

Really fast system and ilife app performance and noticeably quicker in Adobe apps too. The only bothersome issue is the inevitable “rescued items” in the trash at every start up.
